Q: What is LICareers.com?
A: A regional-specific jobsite dedicated *exclusively* to the NYC/LI
    job-seeker, employer, recruiter and agency.

Q: What is LICareers.com NOT?
A: LICareers.com is NOT:
    1)An employer
    2)A recruiter
    3)A placement service
    4)A career councelor
    5)A resume-writing service

Q: Can LICareers.com help me get my foot in the door or "know
     anybody" at<insert company name here>?
A: Ironically, your`s truly is himself, in search of work.....`nuff said?;-)

Q: I`m a recruiter/employer/agency...why should I post my job-open-
    ings on LICareers.com?
A: Several reasons:
1)It`s(currently)free.  I will TRY to KEEP it that way.
    2)It`s HIGHLY-targeted towards NYC/LI area job-seekers.
3)No limits on the number of positions you can post.
4)Job-seekers have the ability to search job-listings by keyword.
5)For you recruiters: You are NOT *COMPETING* with this site
but rather ENHANCING it with your listings!  Why would you
PAY to have your job-orders listed on a site run by ANOTHER
       RECRUITER??
6)Easy access to a searchable database of LOCAL resumes.
7)Your job-postings are automatically propagated into a larger
database of jobs, searched on a wider scale by job-seekers who
have not yet heard of LICareers.com, and are searching via
other portals, gateways, search-engines and sites. Listings in
the database are also picked-up by search-engines.
    8)Did I mention, it`s FREE?;-))
9)Premium advertising exposure is available. Inquire.

Q: My firm isn`t based anywhere near NYC or LI, but we have an
open slot on our consulting team which is on-assignment in NYC.
Can we post the opening here?
A: ABSOLUTELY!  As long as the position is physically-located on
Long Island or NYC, post away!:)

Q: What about internships, temps, temp-to-hire, part-time or contract
    positions?
A: FINE! As long as the positions are physically-located in NYC or
LI, they belong here! (Just mention the facts about the nature of
the position somewhere in your post)

Q: Are there jobs or type of jobs I SHOULDN`T post here?
A: Yes(and THANK YOU for ASKING!:) They are:
    1)Out-of-area positions
    2)Commission-ONLY sales "jobs"
3)Sub-minimum-wage or otherwise overtly illegal/in-violation "job"
4)Telecommuting jobs(Explanation: In my opinion, there is nothing
        inherantly-wrong with a telecommuting job...in fact, I, myself am
trying to land a telecommuting job if at all possible.  The only
reason I don`t want them listed on this site, is because doing so,
would open the floodgates to MLM`s, work-at-home scams, ads
for e-mail processors, envelope-stuffing, ect, ect, ALL of which
can, *technically* be "justified" by posters as being telecomm-
uting "jobs", and I don`t want to start that here.) For a nice little
site with telecommuting jobs, go here.

Q: How long does my resume or job stay listed?
A: Without intervention, about 3 months on LICareer`s database,
and possibly shorter OR longer, on the parent database. Both jobs
and resumes are automatically propagated to the larger, "parent"
Jobvertise database, which is viewed by many, many people and
companies outside of those using LICareers.com directly.

Q: I made a mistake in my resume/job-posting...how do I correct it?
A:  NEW!! As of 3/1/00, you can now edit your own postings!
Requires use of "cookies"...you need to have cookies enabled)
Q: I filled my job-opening or got hired, and want to have my listing
    deleted.
A: NEW!! As of 3/1/00, you can now delete your own postings!
(Requires use of "cookies"...you need to have cookies enabled)
Your listing may still "hang around" for a while on the larger
Jobvertise database, of which I have no direct control

Q: My resume/job-listing wont fit!
A: There is a size-limit on any single, individual post...post your
listing in 2 parts, label the title of your posting accordingly, for
example: "RESUME(1/2)C-programmer" and simply post the
     second half as: "RESUME(2/2)C-programmer"

This site is undergoing facelift and is still evolving...if you have a
question or encounter a problem that isn`t covered by the FAQ, please
DO email me and I will try to help, and will add your question the next
time I update this page.
